Love has many levels and layers to it, encompassing the benefits of kindness, compassion and affection all the way to potentially being a type of mania, obsessiveness and codependency. It may also be described as compassion and affection to others, one’s self or animals. @wikipedia
As we wrap up Recharging Yourself during November, one area of Love that we will focus on this week is Self-Love. This area of love was looked upon very differently in the times of the Buddha, Confucius and Aristotle… Today this term takes on a different role in our modern way of living and understanding.
“Self-love means that you accept yourself fully, treat yourself with kindness and respect, and nurture your growth and wellbeing.
Self-love encompasses not only how you treat yourself but also your thoughts and feelings about yourself. So, when you conceptualise self-love, you can try to imagine what you would do for yourself, how you’d talk to yourself, and how you’d feel about yourself that reflects love and concern.” @psychcentralcom
Here are a few ways to increase your self-love
* Be kind to yourself
* Believe in yourself
* Look for the Joy in your life daily
As you practice these, know that it isn’t about getting it right, only having the ups without the downs, that truly it is about the practice. You will fail, you will succeed, you can do this!
Some words to to reflect on about love:
Acknowledgment * Attention * Smile * Connection * Forgiveness * Listening * Heartbreak * Pain * Fear * Happiness * Joy * Intimacy * Presence * Healing * Nourishing
